An outbreak of 2019 novel coronavirus disease in an air-conditioned restaurant in Guangzhou, China, involved three family clusters, according to an early release research letter published by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The airflow direction was consistent with droplet transmission. To prevent the spread of the virus in restaurants, the authors recommend increasing the distance between tables and improving ventilation.
The virus affected 10 people in three families who ate at the same restaurant. One of the families had travelled from Wuhan, Hubei Province. The authors investigated the link between the 10 cases. Their study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Guangzhou Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
